A Nation in Limbo

In Afghanistan, the period from 2017 to 2024 has been marked by profound turmoil and humanitarian crises, particularly following the Taliban's takeover in August 2021. This shift resulted in a drastic deterioration of human rights, especially for women and girls, who face severe restrictions on education, employment, and freedom of movement. The humanitarian situation has become one of the worst globally, with over 29 million people in need of assistance, including millions suffering from acute food insecurity. The collapse of the economy and international isolation have left families trapped in cycles of poverty and despair, exacerbated by ongoing climate challenges and conflict. Despite international humanitarian efforts, funding remains critically low, leaving essential services under-resourced. As Afghanistan grapples with these challenges, the urgent need for sustained global engagement and support is more crucial than ever to prevent further catastrophe and address the root causes of this ongoing crisis.
